Week #1 – wb 28th February 2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Week #1 Monday Tasks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
  1. Next class bring your DSLR camera (if you have one) to the Zoom class.  <\/li>
  2. Watch the lectures \u2018Lens photographic precedents\u2019 and ‘Exposure and Photographic Conventions’.  <\/li>
  3. Start working on your assignment \u2013 you\u2019ve only got 6 weeks and remember 14 hours a week outside of class!<\/li>
  4. Best way to come up with ideas is to get out there with your camera. <\/li>
  5. Start doing research into photographers who interest you.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Week #1 Thursday Tasks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    1. Make sure you have watched \u2018Week 2\u2019 required videos and make notes. <\/li>
    2. Complete the ‘Camera Tasks’ sheet. <\/li>
    3. Make your own images that use these \u2018photographic conventions\u2019: scale, repetition, depth of field, dynamic composition etc. <\/li>
    4. Complete white balance task. <\/li>
    5. Start to photograph. <\/li>
    6. Bring photos to class on Monday \/ Tuesday. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Monday Actions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      1. Camera<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Dug out my old EOS 20D SLRs, which I don’t shoot all that often given the X100T is currently “my precious”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Cleaned lenses, charged batteries, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      2. Watching<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Watched both videos. Fortunately nothing new to me as a film photographer – happy to see transferrable skills!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      3. Assignment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Got an Adobe CC license.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Started looking at Days Bay as my subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Found recent images and started to look at the modern versions of Photoshop, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      4. Photography<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Went out at took some photos! See below for contact sheets and edits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      5. Research<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Looking at photographers whose work I might like to reference?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Andreas Gursky? Hiroshi Sugimoto?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      I set up a cup of colourful pens on a sheet of brown sugar paper, which is pretty close to neutral, then photographed in various lighting condititions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
